Welcome back to this week’s edition of 2-Minute Tuesdays where we are talking about one exercise topic for two minutes and giving you three reasons why you should follow our advice. Now this week, we are talking to those of you who are going to be traveling this upcoming week for the holidays. This time of year is slammed with holiday travel, so how do you still get your workouts in when you are on the road?
1) Lookup Local Gyms In Your Destination Town
Exercise Tip Number One For Getting Your Workouts In During Holiday Travel Season – lookup local gyms in the area where you are traveling to. Every town has a gym. You are allowed to get a guest pass and get in some high quality workouts while traveling.
Action Step: Do a Google search for gyms in the area where you will be going and contact them ahead of time to see how much a guest pass costs and what their hours are.
2) Do Your Research Ahead Of Time
Exercise Tip Number Two For Getting Your Workouts In During Holiday Travel Season – Do your research ahead of time. Figure out where there are local places to go for a run, hike trails, or ride bikes (weather permitting). Do the work now to plan and prepare where you can get your workouts in while you are away from home.
Action Step: Look up where you will be going online and see if there are any outdoor attractions or places where you can go to move your body and be active. Especially if you are going to be there for a number of days, you may want a change of scenery from the gym, so spend 15-20 minutes now figuring out where you can get outside and move.
3) Keep It Short & Sweet
Exercise Tip Number Three For Getting Your Workouts In During Holiday Travel Season – Keep it short and sweet. You are traveling for a reason – probably to spend time with people you care about – so we want you to take advantage of that time you have. But, we also want you to make sure to take care of yourself. Keep your workouts short and sweet by planning them out ahead of time and knowing exactly what you are going to be doing during your workout.
