New to exercise? Check out these tips!

Welcome back to this week’s edition of 2-Minute Tuesdays where we are talking about one exercise topic for two minutes and giving you three reasons why you should follow our advice.  Now this week, we are talking to those of you who are just starting out with exercise.  What things do you need to keep in mind with your workouts to make sure your body stays safe while still being effective with your workouts?

1) Get Some Guidance

Exercise Tip Number One If You Are New To Working Out:  Consider getting some guidance.  Almost every gym has personal trainers, and if not, you can always check out our Virtual Membership Program to get your body assessed and receive quality exercise guidance.  Getting your body assessed is of the utmost importance so you know what areas of your body are ready to workout and what areas need some attention first.

2)  Longevity of Working Out Is Key For Longevity of Your Body

Exercise Tip Number Two If You Are New To Working Out:  Longevity of working out is key for longevity of your body.  In order to make sure that you are able to get all of the amazing health benefits that can come from exercise, you have to make sure you are able to continue to exercise for as much of  your life as you can.  So, while your motivation is high right now, make sure that how you are exercising today is conducive to you being able to continue to exercise in the future.

Action Step:  Do a diagnostics check on your body before, during, and after your workouts.  Is anything feel beat up, achy, or sore?  Is there any muscle tightness?  Do you feel like your energy and strength are higher or lower?  If you notice any negative symptoms before, during, or after you exercise, change how you are exercising to accommodate.

3) Do Not Ignore What Your Body Is Telling You

Exercise Tip Number Three If You Are New To Working Out:  Do not ignore what your body is telling you.  If you haven’t been active on a consistent basis before, starting up can lead to some aches and soreness.  Be mindful of these signs that your body is giving you and reach out to a professional that can help you with this, such as a Muscle Activation Techniques® specialist.  These symptoms don’t often go away as you age; you may just avoid doing exercises for the areas where they are, which can make those areas weaker.
