How Wide To Have Your Hands When Doing The Chest Press Machine

This month on Trainer Tip Tuesday we will be discussing how to properly use the chest press machine and make sure you are being safe and effective while doing so. The chest press machine is one of the most effective tools for building the strength and function of your chest and shoulder muscles, but you need to make sure that it is being used correctly in order to minimize potential risks. Today, we want to talk to you about how wide you should have your hands when using this machine.

We often see people default to placing their hands however wide the handles are when they sit down on the machine. However, there are very strategic reasons why you may want your hands wider or more narrow.

The goal you want to achieve from doing the chest press can actually have a huge influence over how wide you have your hands. So the first step is to understand what you are wanting the exercise to do for your body, and then strategically position your hands to help you do just that.

Check out all of the details in this week’s episode of Trainer Tip Tuesday, and be sure to tune back in next week as we discuss another consideration when using the chest press machine.
