Exercise For Life

Exercise As A Lifestyle Stinks

Have you ever heard the saying “exercise is a lifestyle”?  I am pretty sure we all have heard it and we REALLY need to cut it out and stop saying it.  Let me tell you why.

Why do some people say this?  Because the true and best changes from exercise are seen with consistency and long-term efforts.

But, what does it sound like is being said?  Exercise must dominate your life.

Now, who do you know that would like their lifestyle to be exercise?  UM, NO ONE THAT I KNOW!

There are a few unicorns (aka unique individuals) that truly enjoy exercising and would still do it if it weren’t for physique and health goals.  I am a personal trainer in Schaumburg, IL and I am not even one of those unicorns.  I am a normal human trying to get the most out of my life.

We absolutely must change this idea that exercise is a lifestyle.  Why?  Because every single person can benefit from exercise but so many people are not exercising or are not being reached with this “exercise is a lifestyle” message.

Here is the real message:  Exercise is not a lifestyle. Exercise is FOR your lifestyle.

Exercise is here is help you live the life and the lifestyle that you want.  There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that exercise (even low intensity) would help you live closer to the way you have always dreamed.  This may include taking advantage of traveling opportunities, playing with grandkids, increasing your energy, making your bones and muscles stronger, helping you keep your joints stable, helping your body maintain a healthy weight and blood values, and helping you do the things your heart desires.  I know this last point it pretty cliche, but it’s completely and absolutely true!

Have you been considering exercise?  Don’t worry!  You DO NOT have to dread dedicating the rest of your existence to exercise.  BUT, as soon as you start engaging in exercise, you get to begin reaping the benefits.

Exercise is not a lifestyle, but exercise is for your lifestyle, so begin exercising and start reaping the benefits for your lifestyle and your life’s goals.
