Muscle Activation Techniques®

Developed by Greg Roskopf, Muscle Activation Techniques® (MAT®) is a revolutionary process to assess for and address these lazy muscles, helping to improve flexibility and strength, restore your posture, decrease muscle tightness and get you back to doing all the things in life you enjoy.

The certified specialists at Muscle Activation Schaumburg are trained in the highest levels of MAT®–including MATRx, MATRx Stim, and MAT® Athlete–to ensure that they are able to guide you back to physical freedom as efficiently as possible.

Do not let lazy muscles keep you from doing what you enjoy most in life.

Your muscles are the engine of your body.  They move your bones, protect your joints, and keep you doing the activities you enjoy most.

Sometimes, though, your muscles can become lazy.  Due to previous injuries, repetitive movements, lack of consistent exercise, or aging, your muscles can stop working as well as they once did.  When this happens, you can lose flexibility and strength, your posture can worsen, and you can start to feel achy and tight.

Over time, these lazy muscles can start to take away from your physical freedom, preventing you from being able to do all of the activities you once enjoyed.

How Do You Know If You Need MAT®?

Muscle Tightness

Muscle tightness can be uncomfortable, but loosening muscles directly may not be the answer. We address muscle tightness differently.

Losing Flexibility

If you are not able to move as fluidly or as much as you once did, that can be an indication that lazy muscles are starting to take over.

Imbalanced Strength

Does one side of your body feel stronger than the other? This can be a warning sign that the muscles on the weaker side are starting to get lazy.

Difficulty With Activities

If daily or recreational activities are becoming increasingly more difficult, this may be an indicator that lazy muscles need to get tuned up.

What Kind of MAT® Client Are you?

Progressor

Is there a physical activity that you would like to be able to do that you are currently unable to do?

The Progressor group is characterized by having a goal to perform a physical activity that they are currently unable to do.  Our job at Muscle Activation Schaumburg is to help this group progress to being able to do that activity.

With Muscle Activation Techniques®, we would start by assessing your muscular system to identify which muscles are not working as well as they should be and then put together a plan to help get those muscles stronger.  This can help to take stress off of your joints and relieve other muscles that are overworking, helping you be able to do more of the things you enjoy with fewer physical issues.

Maintainer

Do you want to be able to  keep doing the activities you enjoy most in life?

The Maintainer group is characterized by being able to do the things they enjoy in life coupled with a desire to continue to do those things for the foreseeable future.  They don’t necessarily want to be able to do more, they just want to maintain where they are at for as long as possible.

With Muscle Activation Techniques®, we would be looking to do infrequent but consistent tune-ups with you to make sure your muscular system stays working well over time.  Think of it like a regular cleaning that you would do with your dentist–it doesn’t happen every day, but it happens consistently to make sure your teeth and gums stay healthy.  This is a similar approach that would be taken with your muscular system health.

Optimizer

Are you looking for an edge to take your physical health and performance to the next level?

The Optimizer group is somewhat of a combination of the Progressor and Maintainer groups.  They are characterized by currently being able to do the things they want to do, but, they have a desire to be able to do those things better.  Typically, this group is either highly active or competitive with their physical activity and they are looking for something to bring their current performance a notch or two higher.

With Muscle Activation Techniques®, we would be asking, “Where are your weak links?”.  By identifying where your weak links are, we would be able to focus on tuning those areas up and improving your stress tolerance so you can stay strong even as your body gets more stressed with the workouts and competitions.
